Positive Packaging Building Capacity In India And UAE

Empee Group subsidiary Positive Packaging Industries Ltd. has grown through expansion of existing facilities and acquisitions in India and UAE.

“We have invested around $ 50 million in setting-up new plants, buying machinery and acquisitions in last few years,” said Anil Sadhwani, Director, RenewSys division.

The Mumbai-based company makes printed, laminated and barrier-grade flexible packaging in India, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.

The company is adding a second plant in the UAE, following its acquisition of United Flexible — now Positive Packaging United.

“The second converting plant is coming up in Ras al Khaimah and it would be operational by the end of 2013,” Sadhwani said at a recent Speciality Films and Flexible Packaging Global Conference in Mumbai.

In India, Positive Packaging acquired ICM Packaging near Mumbai and rechristened it Positive Packaging Ambernath. The company plans to add a new label plant in Ambernath by the end of 2013.

Empee Group also started making film for photovoltaic solar modules in Bangalore, India, last year.

Positive Packaging has seven plants in India.
