Scanvik represents Rossini the world leader and pioneer in rubber rollers, mandrels, and sleeve technology for gravure and flexo for wide as well as for narrow web. “An important development is of Rossini setting up a manufacturing base in India which will produce printing rubber rollers. Scanvik will continue to be Rossini’s agent even after they set up base in India”, said KV Hebbar, Founder, Scanvik.

Another company it represents is Flexo-Wash for high quality cleaning and washing equipment for both narrow and wide web flexo and gravure presses. Scanvik supplies Bieffebi’s mounting and proofing machines for the flexo printing and slitter-rewinders for plastic films, papers and laminates. It represents American company Preco for laser scoring technology which anticipates the need for convenience packaging when organized retail takes off.

The company concentrates on high end technology solutions for its customers. Troika Systems makes quality control tools for the offset, flexible packaging, label and corrugated markets. Another company in Scanvik’s portfolio is Simec which has been producing rollers with surface treatments suited to a variety of application areas. Its major customers include Uflex, Positive Packaging, and Huhtamaki Paper Products.

“We believe in catering to specialized segments and that is why we chose to represent companies who are dedicated to single product lines, not one company offering everything. Gradually smart Indian customers have also realized that going to suppliers who specializes in dedicated products is better than going to a company which supplies everything”, he added.

Among the areas in the packaging industry seeing the most innovation, is the flexible packaging segment. “Flexible packaging has great potential going forward as players are using modern technology, In flexible packaging there are very few top players who have second hand equipment. This is not the case in other segments where a lot of second hand machinery is being used with technology which is many years old. Regarding the mantra for success in the packaging industry, those who will play the game of productivity and quality will go places. For this one has to invest in modern technology, Cutting costs and being cost-effective should be the primary objective”, Hebbar further stated.

Label industry is catching up in a big way in India and players are investing in high end machinery. Many global players are looking at entering India and several have already come in, which shows label industry hold great promise. Another reason why big global payers are attracted to India is that fact that cost here is low and they can make India an export hub to supply to European markets and American markets.
