The Government of Punjab has setup 26 industrial advisory commissions to promote holistic industrial and business growth in the state. The sectors identified by the Government expected to spur the growth include- Paper and Paper based Packaging Units; Plastic and Chemical Products; and Printing and Packaging. Each of these commission will be headed by a renowned person from the relevant industrial sector who will hold the rank of a Cabinet Minister. Prof. Kamal Chopra, the General Secretary of the Offset Printers’ Association (OPA) and Past President of the All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP) is tipped to head the commission for Printing and Packaging.
“Thanks to the efforts of OPA, Punjab has become the first and only state to recognize Printing and Packaging as one of the major industry Sectors,” said Prof. Chopra. He added, “This should be the first step to get Industry recognition from the Union Government, something that we have been struggling to get for the past several years.”
