In recognition of his services towards printing industry, especially International Print Education, the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, China designated Mr Kamal Chopra as Honorary Professor of BIGC for 3 years. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Ms) Zhang Sheru, Dean of Studies and Director of International Cooperation & Exchange, BIGC said, “Mr. Kamal Chopra, an internationally influential and renowned printer, has had cooperation with our university for over 10 years. He has also actively promoted and propelled the bilateral development in printing industry.”
Prof. Luo Xueke, Vice Chancellor of BIGC said, “India is in its prime time of overall development. Indian people are friendly as well as warm-hearted. Indian high education and science are advancing fast and Indian printing industry is on the rapid increase in demand. All these lay sound foundation for further cooperation. Indian printing Association, AIFMP acts as bridge between Sino-India education and printing related industries. Mr. Kamal’s hospitability, wisdom, and knowledge will surely contribute greatly to Sino-India communication and cooperation. ” In view of the above, BIGC sincerely decided to award Mr. Kamal Chopra Honorary Professor of BIGC.
Mr. Chopra is a known name in the printing arena world over. A qualified printer and a Gold Medallist in printing technology, Mr. Chopra has many laurels to his credit including the award from H.E. The President of India and Global Print Leadership Award at Chicago USA by NPES. One of his work – the unique 13 page calendar offering a complete history of Printing that goes back to over 100,000 years found place in the Printing History Museum in Beijing, China it is considered a huge contribution to the history of printing. He was also felicitated at Birmingham (UK) by the BUMPSA for his achievements in the printing industry.
While thanking the BIGC, Mr Kamal Chopra said, it is the greatest honour for the printing industry of India; it is for the first time ever that such a felicitation if given to a printer in India. I am thankful to Prof. Luo Xueke, Prof. Zhang Sheru and the entire team of BIGC for awarding the title of ‘Honorary Professor’. BIGC is the world’s largest printing institute and now in India we are cooperating with them for higher education to Indian students.
